The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
griffin swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
gracie showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from griffin.
griffin misses with a two punch combination.
gracie uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by griffin.
griffin takes a swing at gracie's ribcage but misses.

gracie feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
griffin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
gracie stands and throws griffin's legs to the side, diving into side control.

gracie is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. griffin knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

gracie tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no gracie has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
griffin is trying to control gracie's posture but gracie avoids it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

griffin tries to buck gracie off but gracie is having none of it.
griffin is not content to let gracie control the position.

gracie working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
griffin is looking for a sweep.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A punch combination from griffin misses.
griffin stuffs the takedown.
griffin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
joe gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

gracie bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

griffin is trying to control gracie's posture but gracie avoids it.
griffin is not content to let gracie control the position.
griffin tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but gracie wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
griffin sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
gracie wants to free his trapped foot but griffin is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

griffin has his feet on gracie's thighs here. He's pushed gracie off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! gracie screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
