PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bernie Perant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Riot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Yves DeLean and Robert Douchet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Riot will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Perant throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Perant feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Riot looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Perant!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Perant wants to hold on but Riot pushes him away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Riot jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Perant is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Perant and Riot has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Riot wants to lay and pray for a moment but Perant keeps working.

Riot wants to control but Perant is keeping him busy.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Riot bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Perant uses his free foot to push down on Riot's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Riot.

Perant knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Riot on the ground.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Perant misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Riot shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Perant's guard.

Josh Riot showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Despite being in the dominant position, Josh Riot just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Riot isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Perant stacks Riot on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Perant!

Perant is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Perant tries to break the clinch but Riot is controlling the position.
Riot is pressed up against the cage. Perant has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Riot down to the mat. Riot avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
