PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Queensberry Rules (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arin Yeskow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Queensberry Rules!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Arin Yeskow!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Anni Minnemäki and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rules connects with a good right hand that stumbles Yeskow. Yeskow circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Yeskow with a poor takedown
and Rules connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Rules's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Rules duly obliges.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rules throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Yeskow shoots in looking for a takedown. Rules tries to sprawl out of it but Yeskow keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rules manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Yeskow moves forwards but Rules connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Rules moves into range and clinches up with Yeskow.

Rules pulls Yeskow into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Yeskow throws an elbow that misses. Rules uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Yeskow's guard. Nice move by Rules!
Rules controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Rules gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Queensberry Rules is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Rules gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Rules lands a right hand that snaps the head of Yeskow backwards.
Yeskow throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Rules blocks it with crossed arms.
Rules avoids a wild elbow strike from Yeskow.
Yeskow misses with a knee to the head.

Rules pulls guard effortlessly.

Rules is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Rules postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Yeskow to stand up.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Rules clinches up against the cage.

Rules jumps guard.
Yeskow throws a strike but Rules rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Rules advances position into side control!
Yeskow looks winded!
Yeskow is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Rules fails to land a wild elbow strike.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rules stands up.
Rules scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Yeskow takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Yeskow takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Rules lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Rules feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Yeskow sprawling to the canvas! Yeskow rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Rules finish him?!

Rules fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Yeskow, pushing him back against the cage.

Rules has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Yeskow is trying to keep an underhook but Rules manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Rules is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Queensberry Rules dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Rules scores with a decent looking hook.
Rules fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Yeskow looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Yeskow takes a body punch but keeps moving.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Yeskow moves to clinch but Rules breaks away
and Rules counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Yeskow is breathing heavily.

Rules drives through and clinches with Yeskow against the cage.

Rules jumps guard.
Yeskow must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Rules kicks Yeskow off and gets to his feet.
Yeskow avoids a punch combination nicely.
Rules moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Rules rushes Yeskow and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Rules has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Yeskow regains guard immediately.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rules forces his way into half guard.
Rules wants to pass the guard but Yeskow is defending well.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Rules seems to be working for a kimura but Yeskow defends the submission attempt.

Rules connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.


It looks like Arin Yeskow has been cut.
Yeskow ducks right into an uppercut from Rules.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Rules has taken the fight to the clinch.
Rules presses Yeskow against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

Rules lands a takedown into guard.
Rules slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Queensberry Rules overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Queensberry Rules.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Rules catches Yeskow with a right, a left, a right. It's raining punches and Yeskow forgot an umbrella! Another punch and he's down. This one is over!
