PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gegard Mou (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Troy Warner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gegard Mou!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Troy Warner!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Joseph Jones and John Roberts.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Warner uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Mou.
Mou looks for a takedown but Warner sprawls well.
Warner throws a sloppy head kick and Mou moves out of range easily.
Mou throws a series of punches but Warner moves out of range.
Warner is looking to clinch.

Mou gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Mou is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Mou looking for a sweep. Not yet Mou, not yet.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Warner has eaten all the pies!
Warner controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Mou bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Warner's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Warner is looking for a triangle here but Mou uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

The ground and pound from Mou seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Warner trying his best to control but Mou has mounted him.
Mou pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mou is trying to control the action in half guard but Warner is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Mou has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Warner wants to hold on but Mou pushes him away.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mou is looking to control Warner but Warner is wriggling around and keeping busy.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Warner tries to clinch but Mou is having none of it.

Warner shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mou's guard.

Warner avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Warner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mou. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mou is trying to control the position but Warner postures up.

Warner stands up and waves to Mou to follow him.
Mou is trying hard to land a takedown here. Warner sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Warner gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Mou tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Mou is trying to maintain a safe position but Warner gets an underhook and turns Mou into the cage.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Warner creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Mou is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Mou is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Warner makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Warner.

Warner has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mou can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Warner looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Warner thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Warner is trying to keep Mou in close.

Warner keeping moving, preventing Mou from controlling successfully.
Mou has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Warner has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Mou is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Warner.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Warner's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Warner is trying to get back to half guard.
Mou looks up at the clock and then as Warner takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Mou smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mou scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Warner to see if he's OK.

Mou working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Mou wants to lay and pray for a moment but Warner keeps working.
You can see the frustration on Warner's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Warner can't do much from the bottom here.

Mou connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Warner some visible discomfort.

Warner explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Mou scores with a jab to the head.
Mou misses with a jab, cross combination.

Mou drives through with a takedown into Warner's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Mou changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Warner takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Horrible takedown by Warner or perhaps it was just good defense by Mou which made him look bad.
Warner shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mou as he avoids it easily.
Mou scores with a hook to the body. Warner takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Gegard Mou is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Mou looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Warner!
Warner tries to control but Mou manages to take his back.

Warner won't enjoy being in this position. Mou looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Warner is tapping - it's over boys! Mou picks up the submission victory!
