DeAngelo Kenner had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Overeem wants to clinch
and Kenner counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Overeem looks to clinch

Kenner lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Overeem moves in looking to clinch but Kenner pushes him off.

and Kenner counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Kenner throws a wild body kick that Overeem sees coming a mile off.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Overeem just misses with a punch to the body.

Kenner fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Overeem looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Kenner fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Overeem to the ground. Kenner is now in Overeem's guard.
Kenner stands up over Overeem, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kenner slips nicely into half guard.
Kenner wants to control but Overeem is keeping him busy.
Kenner not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Overeem really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kenner. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kenner looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
