PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Cain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Eric Cain!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shigeki Fujiwara and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White closes the distance looking to clinch
and Cain makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
White tries to clinch but Cain moves out of range.
White tries to close the distance and clinch but Cain swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
White fails in his attempt to clinch.

White closes the distance and pushes Cain back into the cage.
White lands a shoulder strike.
Cain wants a takedown.
White doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Cain tries to score a body lock takedown but White shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Still in the clinch, White scores with a nice short uppercut.
White misses with the head strike.
Cain can't get the takedown.
John White has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eric Cain.
A short body shot lands from White as the two fighters clinch.
A right handed body shot lands from White.

White lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
White controlling the action here for a moment.
Cain looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
White avoiding damage.
Cain is trying to break free.
White cracks Cain with a nice body shot.

White gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Cain.
Cain wants to break free but White has control.

White breaks from the clinch.

White avoids a kick to the body.

White moves into the clinch.
Cain wants a takedown but no success here.
Cain is trying to work for a single leg takedown but White pulls him back up using the underhooks.
White lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Cain backwards.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cain wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
White lands a body shot in the clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as White takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Cain has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by White after a bit of a struggle.
White tries to throw a body punch but Cain avoids it by throwing White back against the cage.
White misses with a shot to the kidneys.
White stops a takedown attempt from Cain.

White prevents a takedown attempt there.
Cain is trying to break free.
White prevents the takedown attempt.
Cain is trying to drag White to the mat but White just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
White is struggling to control the position.
White is defending well against a takedown attempt.
White lands with a right to the head.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
A short uppercut from White.

Cain is trying to work for a single leg takedown but White pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Cain is working for takedown but White is calmly controlling the position for now.
Cain tries to break the clinch but White is controlling the position.
White throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
White is working Cain over against the cage.
White presses Cain against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
White pushes Cain back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
White lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
White can't find room to land a body shot as Cain controls the action.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cain drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Cain is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John White dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Cain circles away from the clinch attempt.
White wants to clinch.
John White seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
White tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Cain counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Cain keeps the fight on the outside.
Cain fails with a takedown attempt.
Cain tries for a takedown but White sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
White moves in looking to clinch but Cain pushes him off.

Cain shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Cain was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
White is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
White is pushing Cain's head away, looking to escape. Cain manages to hold on to the position though.
White tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's one minute gone in the round.
White pushes Cain away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Cain gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Cain tries for a kimura but White is defending well.

Cain wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by White, who protects the arm well.

Cain is working to tighten is grip on White's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. White has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Cain is really squeezing tight and eventually White passes out! Cain breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Eric Cain!
After winning the bout, Eric Cain thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
