PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Furijima Donatello (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eli Bernstein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Donatello comes to the cage accompanied by Led Zeppelin - Achilles Last Stand. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Eli Bernstein!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Taro Takaoka and Tatsuya Matsuyama.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bernstein is looking to clinch.
Bernstein throws a series of punches but Donatello avoids them all with ease.
Bernstein's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Bernstein duly obliges.

It looks like Furijima Donatello has been cut.

Donatello shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Bernstein napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Bernstein is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

You can see the frustration on Bernstein's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bernstein is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Donatello is controlling him well.

Bernstein really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Donatello. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bernstein tries to escape but Donatello is in control.

Donatello is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Bernstein's shoulder. That is not cool.
Bernstein is looking to reverse the position.

Donatello thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Bernstein is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Donatello lands a decent elbow from side control.
Donatello in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bernstein managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Donatello.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Donatello connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Bernstein some visible discomfort.
Donatello tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Donatello has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Donatello goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Bernstein has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Donatello but great work by Bernstein.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Bernstein wants to stand but Donatello is controlling his arm.
Donatello manages to get back to half guard.

Donatello has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Bernstein. Oh but Donatello has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Bernstein goes limp - he's gone! Donatello jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
