The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sato closes the distance and clinches up with Mccarry, looking for a takedown. Sato pushes Mccarry against the cage but Mccarry circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A punch combination from Mccarry misses.
Sato slips a jab and a cross from Mccarry.

Sato manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Mccarry on his heels. He'll look to pass Mccarry's guard now, I'm sure.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Mccarry wants to sweep here but Sato controlling him for the moment.
Mccarry is looking to sweep but instead, Sato has passed into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Sato in particular looking to stall.
It looks like Sato might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Mccarry is looking to improve his position but Sato isn't that keen on the idea.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
