The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Roll drives through with a takedown into guard.

Roll is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Swearingen looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Roll trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Roll prevents Swearingen from getting back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Swearingen keeping full guard, as Roll tries to pass.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Swearingen pulls Roll in close to prevent any damage.
Roll won't allow Swearingen to get back to his feet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Roll fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Nice takedown defense from Swearingen. No joy for Roll on that attempt.
Swearingen pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Swearingen throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Swearingen swings for the body but Roll moves out of range.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Roll.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dynamite Roll. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Roll avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Roll shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Swearingen as he jumps to the side.
Roll misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Swearingen moves into the clinch.
Roll goes for a takedown attempt but Swearingen pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Roll shoots in but no luck this time.
Roll showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Swearingen.
Roll shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Swearingen but Swearingen pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Swearingen throws a hook to the side of Roll's head but Roll sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Nice combo by Swearingen! Oh, that's hurt him - Roll falls to the canvas and Swearingen follows him into side control.

Roll is rocked!
Roll is letting Swearingen control him for a moment.
Oh Roll is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Swearingen is working Roll over with some ground and pound from side control.
Roll is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Swearingen's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Swearingen escapes and gets back to his feet.
Swearingen cracks Roll with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Roll tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Swearingen pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Roll is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
