Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Paul Bourque (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesus Quintana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 36 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paul Bourque!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jesus Quintana!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Thiago Cunha and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bourque throws an off balance right hand
and Quintana cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Bourque takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Quintana slips a jab from Bourque.
Bourque misses with a jab, cross combination.
Bourque steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Quintana.
Bourque looks to score with a jab to the body but Quintana is just out of range.
Quintana moves into range and connects with a jab.
Bourque throws the left hand but Quintana avoids the punch easily.
Quintana scores with a hook.
Quintana fails with the takedown.
Some wild striking there from Bourque.
Quintana throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Bourque sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Bourque with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Quintana to score with a decent uppercut.

Quintana moves into range and clinches up with Bourque.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Bourque.
Quintana pushes Bourque back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Quintana lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Quintana lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Quintana lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Quintana working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.

Quintana pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
No joy there for Quintana, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Nice defenses there by Bourque.
Danga de danga de dang - Quintana scores with a four punch combination!
Bourque misses with a jab, cross combination.
Bourque keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Quintana scores with a jab. Bourque acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bourque takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Quintana clinches up against the cage.
Quintana's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Quintana misses with some punches.
Bourque looking to stall.
Bourque really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Quintana turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Quintana remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bourque is looking to regain half guard here but Quintana keeps moving and retains side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Quintana tries for a kimura but Bourque is defending well.

Quintana swings around for an armbar but Bourque sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Quintana's guard.
Quintana wants to sweep here but Bourque controlling him for the moment.
Bourque trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Quintana working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bourque doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bourque manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Bourque wanted to stand there but Quintana had control of the position.

Quintana is looking for a triangle but Bourque pushes his legs off easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bourque has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Quintana is proving hard to escape from.
Bourque will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Quintana looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Bourque has picked Quintana up and slammed him! Quintana can't keep hold of the triangle and Bourque manages to pass to side control!

Bourque decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Bourque takes one to the side of the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Quintana drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Quintana is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Bourque had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Quintana misses with a hook. Bourque ducked under it nicely.
Bourque throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Quintana lands a nice shot that snaps Bourque's head back.
Quintana missing with a left hand there. Bourque was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Quintana shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bourque sprawls well. Bourque wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Quintana gets slowly back to his feet.
Bourque uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Quintana.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jesus Quintana dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Bourque avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A slow jab from Quintana misses its intended target.
Bourque lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Quintana throws a right hand that Bourque ducks under and follows up with a left that Bourque also avoids with ease.

Bourque lands a left and a right that send Quintana crashing to the mat, dazed. Bourque thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Quintana is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bourque throws an uppercut from hell that sends Quintana clean off his feet! He's out cold! Bourque stands back and admires his work as he thinks about that KO of the night award that is surely being wrapped up for him back stage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Paul Bourque!
A relieved looking Paul Bourque thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
