PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Karol Robotnik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Robotnik's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Condemned 84 - Face the Aggression. Karol Robotnik has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Karol Robotnik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Daniel Cesar and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White blocks a head kick by Robotnik.
White shoots in and drives through. Robotnik sprawls well.

Robotnik gets caught napping as White dives in and scores a takedown. Robotnik manages to retain guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
White trying to control but Robotnik is working from the bottom.
White engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
White looking to sit in guard and control but Robotnik gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Robotnik loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Robotnik chips away with some ground and pound.
Robotnik throws a big right hand that misses.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Robotnik looking to sit in guard and control but White gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Robotnik pulls White in close to prevent any damage.
White pushing down on Robotnik's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Robotnik knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for White on the ground.

White tries to pass the half guard into mount. Robotnik knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Robotnik looks like he's trying to stand up.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
White uses his free foot to push down on Robotnik's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Robotnik.
White is looking to work his way around to Robotnik's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

White is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Robotnik can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Robotnik is squirming around, avoiding White's attempts to control the action.

White swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Robotnik is now in White's guard. A big mistake from White there, giving up the dominant position!

White is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

George White dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


White tries for a takedown but Robotnik circles away easily

and Robotnik counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
White jumps guard but Robotnik stands there with White around his waist. White gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Robotnik's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Robotnik holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Karol Robotnik has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of George White.
Robotnik tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and White avoids it.
White tries to pull guard but Robotnik holds him up against the ropes and eventually White drops back down to his feet.

Robotnik breaks the clinch.

and Robotnik counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Robotnik.

and Robotnik counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in White's guard now.

Robotnik got a little sloppy there for a moment and White has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Robotnik has managed to get both his arms back between White's legs - danger averted.

Robotnik is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

White wants to control from the top but Robotnik keeps moving.
White advances to half guard.
White trying to mount his opponent but Robotnik defends it.
Robotnik is not content to let White control the position.

Robotnik is trying to stand up here but White is controlling him well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The ref stands the fighters back up. George White was stalling too much, according to the referee.

White shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Karol Robotnik will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


A really sloppy takedown attempt there from White.
Robotnik shoots in for a takedown but White shows good takedown defense.
Robotnik stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Robotnik wants it to stay on the feet.
Robotnik looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? White is fending him off so far but Robotnik persists. Nope, White circles away and we're back to standing.

Karol Robotnik has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of George White.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

White is figuring out what he wants to do next.
White is looking to advance position but Robotnik won't allow it.
White prevents Robotnik from standing back up.

Robotnik is staying active underneath White, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
White tries to pass the half guard into mount. Robotnik knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

George White has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Robotnik is defended easily by White.
White shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Robotnik as he jumps to the side.

Robotnik lands a nice forearm strike.

White tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Robotnik wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Robotnik is trying to ground and pound but White uses the momentary lack of control by Robotnik to regain half guard.
Robotnik drops an elbow to the side of White's head.

Robotnik throws an elbow that misses. White uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Robotnik's guard. Nice move by White!
White stands and throws Robotnik's legs to the side, diving into side control.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

White tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Karol Robotnik.
I think Robotnik has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
