Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kazuya Takeshi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy Fredric (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Randy Fredric is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kazuya Takeshi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Randy Fredric!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shirou Masuda and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fredric drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Takeshi sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Fredric really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Takeshi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Fredric wants to stand but Takeshi has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Takeshi tries to get to full guard but Fredric has control of the leg.
Takeshi is striking from the bottom but he's now found himself mounted! Oh dear - not enough focus on defense there.
Takeshi is trying to escape the mount.
Takeshi tries to lock up and control but Fredric gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Takeshi is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Takeshi gets back to half guard.
Takeshi is trying to control but can't.
Takeshi throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Takeshi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Takeshi is working hard here to advance position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Takeshi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Fredric scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Takeshi is trying to improve his position.
Takeshi is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Fredric is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Fredric must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Takeshi is on top in guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Takeshi throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Fredric works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Takeshi throws a strike but Fredric rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Takeshi is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Takeshi not landing any meaningful shots this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kazuya Takeshi will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Fredric moves out of range of the strikes.
Takeshi misses with a series of wild punches.
Takeshi looks to land a body kick but Fredric moved away.
Takeshi tries to bum rush Fredric with a series of wild strikes but Fredric uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Takeshi throws a right hand that Fredric ducks under and follows up with a left that Fredric also avoids with ease.
Takeshi throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Kazuya Takeshi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Takeshi looks to land a combination but Fredric avoids it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fredric uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Takeshi.
Takeshi rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Fredric moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Takeshi drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Takeshi throws and elbow that misses. Fredric uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Takeshi's guard. Nice move by Fredric!

Takeshi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Takeshi misses with a few strikes there.
Some wild striking there from Takeshi.
Takeshi throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Takeshi misses with a double jab.
Takeshi lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Fredric at a distance.

Takeshi misses with a jab, cross combination.
Takeshi swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Takeshi pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Takeshi will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Takeshi thuds his right hand into Fredric's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Takeshi throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Fredric.
Takeshi throws a right and a left that both miss.
Takeshi throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Randy Fredric showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

and Fredric counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Takeshi wants to improve his position but instead Fredric has moved into half guard.

Takeshi tries to get to full guard but Fredric has control of the leg.
Fredric wants to stand up but Takeshi is controlling the position.
Fredric takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Takeshi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Takeshi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Takeshi bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Takeshi postures up in Fredric's guard and throws a big left but Fredric blocks it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Randy Fredric comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Fredric has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
