Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vyacheslav Kalashnikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Soham Roy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kalashnikov comes into the arena with CMX - Kaikkivaltiaan Peili blaring out of the sound system. Vyacheslav Kalashnikov has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Soham Roy!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Eddie Farnsworth and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A big head kick from Roy and Kalashnikov is sent sprawling to the canvas!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Roy loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Kalashnikov bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Roy's guard.
Kalashnikov wants to stand and escape but instead Roy has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Roy accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kalashnikov wants to sweep but no luck.
Roy throws a big right hand that misses.

Roy throws a strike but Kalashnikov rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Roy is adopting a defensive guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Soham Roy hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Roy misses with a straight left.

Roy fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kalashnikov avoids it really well and circles away.
Roy bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Kalashnikov scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Roy takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Roy cracks Kalashnikov with an open hand slap.

Roy throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kalashnikov was covering up waiting for the punch and Roy finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Roy wants to control from the top but Kalashnikov keeps moving.
Kalashnikov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Roy keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kalashnikov's head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kalashnikov lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Roy!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Soham Roy dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Kalashnikov is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Roy.
Roy tries a head kick but it misses.
A looping hook to the body misses from Roy. Kalashnikov does a little dance to reset his feet.
Roy misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Vyacheslav Kalashnikov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

It looks like Soham Roy has been cut.

Roy gets the takedown into side control.
Roy has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Kalashnikov sneaks back into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Roy passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Kalashnikov!
Soham Roy has got the better of the ground game so far.
Roy can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kalashnikov is looking to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Roy postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Kalashnikov looks a forlorn figure.

Roy lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Roy can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kalashnikov is looking to escape.
Kalashnikov tries to reverse the position but Roy maintains control.

Roy avoids the attempt from Kalashnikov to control.
Roy has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Kalashnikov's face.
Kalashnikov is in all sorts of trouble here.

Roy postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Kalashnikov bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Roy and the fight is over!
