Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kettu Pentti!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nick Papadakes!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Papadakes circles away from the clinch attempt.

Pentti looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Papadakes wants to get back to full guard.
Papadakes has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Pentti is working away from the top position though.
Papadakes wants to get back to his feet.
Papadakes tries to roll over but Pentti keeps him under control.
Papadakes moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Papadakes is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Papadakes wants to stand but Pentti is controlling the position.
Pentti wants to pass the guard but Papadakes is keeping the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Pentti fails in his attempt to clinch.

Papadakes is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Papadakes is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Papadakes throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Papadakes looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pentti is one step ahead there.
Papadakes not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Papadakes throws a front kick aimed at Pentti's knee but Pentti avoids it well.
Kettu Pentti seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Pentti darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Papadakes moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Papadakes not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Papadakes shoots in and bounces Pentti off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Pentti is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Papadakes looking to sit in guard and control but Pentti gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Papadakes is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Pentti tries to free his leg and advance position but Papadakes is retaining full guard.
Papadakes seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Papadakes looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pentti is one step ahead there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Papadakes wants to stand and escape but Pentti is having none of it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Papadakes controls Pentti momentarily but Pentti frees himself.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Pentti shoots for a double leg takedown but Papadakes sprawls well. He's pushed Pentti's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Pentti closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Papadakes is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Pentti off and has taken his back!
Papadakes lands punches and elbows.
Pentti turns into Papadakes and is now in his guard.

Papadakes looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Pentti puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Pentti wants to pass the guard but Papadakes is defending well.

The fighters are battling for position here. Papadakes manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Pentti is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Pentti is pushing down on Papadakes's leg trying to pass to half guard. Papadakes is fighting to maintain full guard but Pentti has managed to sneak the leg through.
Papadakes makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Papadakes.
Papadakes wants to sweep here but Pentti controlling him for the moment.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Kettu Pentti will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Papadakes with a lazy takedown attempt

and Pentti counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Papadakes is looking for a sweep. Pentti is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Papadakes is trying to control but Pentti manages to pass to mount!
Papadakes wants to control but Pentti is having none of it.
Papadakes is trying to escape the mount.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Papadakes bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Papadakes's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Papadakes loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Papadakes pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Pentti is keeping the position for now.
Pentti utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Pentti wants to sweep but no luck.
Papadakes wants to control from the top but Pentti keeps moving.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Pentti is on top in guard.
Papadakes is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Papadakes bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pentti's guard.
Kettu Pentti overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Papadakes stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Papadakes scores with a sloppy right hand. Pentti should have avoided that one.

Pentti shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Pentti was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Pentti fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Pentti wants to control the pace but Papadakes is squirming around nicely.
Papadakes is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Pentti is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Papadakes can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Papadakes can't escape the position.
Nick Papadakes has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Pentti working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kettu Pentti showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pentti, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
