Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wagner Cavalcante (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barbados Slim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Slim shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Cavalcante's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Slim accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Slim stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cavalcante swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Cavalcante working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Slim doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Slim manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Slim in particular looking to stall.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Barbados Slim was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Cavalcante gets caught napping as Slim dives in and scores a takedown. Cavalcante manages to retain guard.

Cavalcante has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Slim can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Slim keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Cavalcante's head.

Cavalcante has his foot on Slim's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Slim works his way back into a safe position though.

Slim slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Barbados Slim wasn't active enough on the ground.
Slim closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Cavalcante takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Slim lands a really nice looking cross but Cavalcante seems unphased.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Slim misses with a two punch combination.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Barbados Slim dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Cavalcante is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Slim defends well.

Slim seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Slim takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
