PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Slim Shady (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Rey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Slim Shady!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Carlos Rey!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Colin Fray and Micheangelo Fripello.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shady tries for a takedown but Rey circles away easily
and Rey counters with a left to the body.
Rey looks to land a left hand but Shady moved out of range nicely.
A left and a right from Shady both land. Nice combination.
Rey comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Shady connects with a jab.
Rey lands the left hand.
Shady fails with a takedown attempt.
Shady shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rey as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Slim Shady. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Shady closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Shady tries to move to mount but Rey blocks the move with his legs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shady swings around for an armbar but Rey sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Shady's guard.

Shady isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Rey stacks Shady on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Rey!

Shady is bucking up trying to escape but Rey cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Shady is looking to improve his position but Rey isn't that keen on the idea.
Rey is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Shady can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Rey takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Rey thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Shady's head.
Shady is refusing to be controlled, as Rey sits in half guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Shady takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Shady uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rey.

Shady is stalling here. Rey is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Shady seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Rey has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Shady has his feet on Rey's thighs here. He's pushed Rey off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Rey screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
