The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gastellum changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Silver tries to avoid it but Gastellum manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Silver to the ground. Silver escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Gastellum dives in and scores a takedown into Silver's guard.
Gastellum seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Gastellum has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Kevin Gastellum has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Silver lands with a thumping leg kick.
Silver lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Gastellum shoots in for a takedown but Silver shows good takedown defense.
Gastellum shoots in for a double leg but Silver sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Gastellum feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
