PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Danny Fernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Roper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fernandez clinches up with Roper and pushes him back against the cage.

Roper thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Roper drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Roper jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Roper drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Fernandez manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Roper has Fernandez in his guard.

Roper had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Fernandez defends it easily.

Fernandez is sitting in close to Roper's body. Roper has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Fernandez is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Fernandez is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Roper.

After the fight, Scott Roper was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
