Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie connects with a body shot that sends Pitney's belly button to the back.

Gracie feints and as Pitney raises his hands in defense, Gracie changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Pitney utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Gracie trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Gracie slips nicely into half guard.
Pitney is trying to maintain the position but Gracie is very close to passing his half guard.

Pitney is defending against the submission attempts here by Gracie.

Gracie is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Pitney is just riding it out for now. Gracie eventually gives up the hold.

Gracie looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Gracie wants to advance to full mount but Pitney doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Pitney is trying to keep Gracie in close.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gracie postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Pitney is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Gracie, into his guard.

Gracie is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Gracie is looking for a triangle but Pitney pushes his legs off easily.

Gracie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pitney gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Pitney working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Gracie looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Pitney passes into half guard.

Gracie looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Pitney lands strikes from half guard.

Gracie tries to roll over but Pitney keeps him under control.

Gracie moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Gracie is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pitney defends well.
Pitney wants to control from the top but Gracie keeps moving.
Pitney keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Gracie's head.

Gracie is looking for a triangle but Pitney pushes his legs off easily.

Pitney must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Gracie is staying active underneath Pitney, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Gracie is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Pitney pulls his head out easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gracie drives through with a takedown into Pitney's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Peter Gracie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Pitney is trying to control Gracie's posture but Gracie avoids it.
Gracie has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Pitney sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Pitney won't allow Gracie to pass to mount.

Gracie is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Pitney defends it well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gracie uses his free foot to push down on Pitney's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Pitney.
Pitney is controlling an arm, preventing Gracie from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Gracie throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.

Gracie throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Pitney has his hands clasped together but Gracie breaks the hold and Pitney is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Gracie!

Peter Gracie took to the mic after the fight and begged the organizational hierarchy for a shot at the title.
