PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Raje Malapitan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauri Ruoska (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ruoska is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Sympathy for the Devil. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Raje Malapitan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mauri Ruoska!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Dillan Fox and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Malapitan shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ruoska sprawls well. Ruoska wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Malapitan gets slowly back to his feet.
Ruoska shoots for a takedown but Malapitan saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Malapitan darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Malapitan is trying to work for a kimura but Ruoska is defending well.
Malapitan takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Ruoska blocking the ground and pound attempt from Malapitan.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Malapitan connects with a nice short shot to Ruoska's temple.

Ruoska is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Ruoska is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Malapitan slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

and Ruoska counters with a leg kick.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ruoska throws an elbow that misses. Malapitan uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ruoska's guard. Nice move by Malapitan!

Malapitan is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Ruoska still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Ruoska has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Malapitan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Malapitan sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Malapitan tries to roll over but Ruoska keeps him under control.
Ruoska is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Mauri Ruoska comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Malapitan has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
