PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pawel Nastula Gadzilla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jan Blachowicz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Arvi Lind and Matti Vanhoillinen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gadzilla shoots in but no luck this time.
Gadzilla throws out a powerful jab.

Blachowicz moves into the clinch successfully.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Blachowicz pulls guard successfully.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Gadzilla wants to pass the guard but Blachowicz is keeping the position.

Blachowicz working for a triangle but Gadzilla defends it easily.

Blachowicz has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Gadzilla off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Gadzilla has a takedown stuffed.

Blachowicz closes the distance and pushes Gadzilla back into the cage.

Blachowicz has Gadzilla pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Blachowicz pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Gadzilla tumbling to the mat - Blachowicz dives into Gadzilla's guard.
Gadzilla will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Blachowicz decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gadzilla, up you get!

Blachowicz gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Gadzilla regains guard.

Blachowicz seems to be working for a kimura but Gadzilla defends the submission attempt.
Gadzilla scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Blachowicz manages to mount him!
Blachowicz takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Gadzilla tries to hold on but Blachowicz postures up.

Blachowicz stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Blachowicz shoots in looking for a takedown but Gadzilla manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Blachowicz's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Gadzilla misses with a head kick.
Blachowicz leaves Gadzilla with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Blachowicz bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gadzilla's guard.
Gadzilla wants to sweep but no luck.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Blachowicz seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Gadzilla displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Blachowicz.
Gadzilla wants to clinch but Blachowicz slips to the side

and Blachowicz counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Gadzilla!

Blachowicz tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Blachowicz has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Blachowicz has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Gadzilla scores with a hook to the body. Blachowicz takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Pawel Nastula Gadzilla is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Blachowicz looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Gadzilla!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gadzilla is trying to reverse the position but instead Blachowicz has taken his back - oops!
Blachowicz keeps control of the position easily here as Gadzilla tries to buck him off.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Blachowicz is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Blachowicz gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Blachowicz gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Blachowicz apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Gadzilla keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Gadzilla looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Jan Blachowicz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Gadzilla is trying to pull guard but Blachowicz turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Blachowicz is trying to trip Gadzilla. He has hold of a leg but Gadzilla is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Blachowicz persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Let's hope that Blachowicz has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Blachowicz's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Gadzilla has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Blachowicz is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Gadzilla.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Blachowicz wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gadzilla, who protects the arm well.
Blachowicz is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Gadzilla will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Gadzilla knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Blachowicz on the ground.

Blachowicz thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Gadzilla is trying to work for a sweep but Blachowicz has mounted him!

Blachowicz loads up with a big shot that hurts Gadzilla! He's pulled Blachowicz in close but Blachowicz has postured up and lands more strikes. Can Gadzilla survive? More strikes from Blachowicz and Gadzilla is out! The ref jumps in to save him! Brutal ground and pound!

A relieved looking Jan Blachowicz thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
