Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bryan Bedford (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rufus McBrutus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rufus McBrutus is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bryan Bedford!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rufus McBrutus!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Franklyn Lucas and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bedford shoots in but no luck this time.
Bedford blocks a head kick by McBrutus.
Bedford sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Bedford shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts McBrutus as he jumps to the side.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Bedford crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from McBrutus - the referee stops the clock and Bedford gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says McBrutus. Bedford manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Bedford closes the distance and clinches.

McBrutus's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
McBrutus just misses with a punch to the body.
McBrutus lands a head kick. Bedford smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Bedford shoots for a double leg takedown but McBrutus sprawls well. He's pushed Bedford's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bryan Bedford. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McBrutus tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bedford was well out of range. Poor timing from McBrutus.
Bedford doesn't manage to clinch there - McBrutus circles away.
McBrutus throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
McBrutus uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Bedford.
Bedford uses good head movement to avoid the hook from McBrutus.
Nice takedown defense from McBrutus. No joy for Bedford on that attempt.

McBrutus misses with a head kick.
Bedford shoots in looking for a takedown but McBrutus manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bedford's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Good leg kick by McBrutus there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
McBrutus will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
McBrutus misses with a head kick.
Bedford takes a head kick and keeps coming.
McBrutus lands a glancing blow to the side of Bedford's head.
Bryan Bedford seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McBrutus misses with a body kick.

Bedford drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
McBrutus keeping moving, preventing Bedford from controlling successfully.
Bedford pushing down on McBrutus's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Bedford seems to be looking for submissions.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bedford is trying to control. McBrutus wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Bedford tries to pass to full mount but McBrutus defends it.
Bedford is looking to take a break and control but McBrutus is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

McBrutus keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Bedford really is a fat lump.
McBrutus is looking to escape.
Bedford is trying to control the action in half guard but McBrutus is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Bedford prevents McBrutus from standing back up.
Bedford passes the guard and advances to mount!
McBrutus squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Bedford is landing with some decent strikes but McBrutus is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Bedford lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Bedford has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Bedford is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. McBrutus is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. McBrutus flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Bedford anticipates the leg and manages to get behind McBrutus and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Bedford slips an arm under McBrutus chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Bedford has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Bedford is squeezing on McBrutus like an anaconda would it's prey. McBrutus fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Bryan Bedford!
