PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Calypso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brock Samson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Calypso comes to the cage accompanied by Jedi Mind Tricks - Genghis Khan . Samson has chosen The Venture Brothers Opening Theme as his entrance music. Brock Samson will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Calypso!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brock Samson!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Lou da Vinci and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Samson uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Calypso has time to react.
Samson pivots, looking for a leg kick but Calypso is out of range and Samson settles back down.

Samson cracks Calypso with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Calypso looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Samson finish him?


Calypso is rocked!


It looks like Jack Calypso has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Samson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Calypso's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Calypso's back!

Calypso is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Samson gets his way!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Calypso enables Samson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Calypso manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Calypso got a little sloppy there for a moment and Samson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Calypso has managed to get both his arms back between Samson's legs - danger averted.

Calypso decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Calypso is looking to take a break and control but Samson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Calypso looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Samson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
