The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Houellebecq looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Nguyen lands with a right hand.
Houellebecq looks for the body kick but Nguyen saw that one coming.
Nguyen fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Houellebecq checks it well.
Nguyen tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Houellebecq delivers a nice body kick.
Houellebecq bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Nguyen takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Houellebecq keeps the fight on the outside.
Houellebecq lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Houellebecq moves into range and clinches up with Nguyen.
Houellebecq dodges an elbow strike from Nguyen.
Nguyen takes a knee right on the jaw!
It looks like Van Dinh Nguyen has been cut.

Houellebecq tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
With the fighters up against the cage, Nguyen throws an elbow but misses.

Nguyen cracks Houellebecq with a nice body shot.
Nguyen lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Houellebecq backwards.
Nguyen can't find room to land a body shot as Houellebecq controls the action.
Houellebecq pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Nguyen keeps the fight on the outside.
Nguyen throws a low kick but it's checked well by Houellebecq.
Houellebecq ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
A big head kick from Houellebecq and Nguyen is sent sprawling to the canvas!
Nguyen is rocked!
Houellebecq gets to his feet and stands over Nguyen, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Nguyen felt that one! Houellebecq unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Nguyen from any more punishment!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gegard Houellebecq!
Gegard Houellebecq bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
