Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jeb Russell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Gorden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeb Russell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeff Gorden!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gorden shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Russell slips a straight right by Gorden.
Russell misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gorden just misses with a punch to the body.
Russell lands a nice looking body shot.
Russell pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Gorden shoots in and drives through. Russell sprawls well.
Russell wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Russell misses with a low kick.
Gorden keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Jeb Russell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeff Gorden.
Russell keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Russell closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Gorden did well to prevent Russell getting side control.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Russell is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Gorden manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Russell manages to get himself to full guard.

Russell is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Gorden bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Gorden will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Russell lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Russell rushes Gorden and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Russell creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Gorden's defenses.
Gorden on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Gorden is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Russell is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Gorden pulls him back up using the underhooks.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Gorden connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Gorden will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Gorden gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Russell stuffs the takedown.
Russell moves out of range of the strikes.
Russell defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gorden.

Russell throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
No joy there for Russell, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

and Russell counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

and Russell counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Gorden thinking.
Gorden is breathing heavily.
Russell sizes up Gorden with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Gorden fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Russell manages to avoid it.
Russell throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Gorden changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Russell tries to avoid it but Gorden manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Russell to the ground. Russell escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Russell throws a right and a left that both miss.
Gorden shoots for a double leg takedown but Russell sprawls well. He's pushed Gorden's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Gorden shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Russell but Russell pushes him off and we're back to square one.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A close second round but Jeff Gorden will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Gorden shoots in looking for a takedown. Russell tries to sprawl out of it but Gorden keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Russell manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Gorden lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Russell circles away quickly and effectively.
Gorden shoots in for a takedown but Russell shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jeff Gorden hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Russell looks to land a combination but Gorden avoids it well.
Russell throws an overhand right that lands on Gorden's shoulder, as Gorden tries to avoid the shot.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

I would just about give that final round to Jeff Gorden.
I think Gorden has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
