The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith darts in and clinches Sofa up against the cage.

Sofa manages to break the clinch.
Sofa throws a hook to the side of Smith's head but Smith sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Smith fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Sofa sprawls well initially but Smith persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Sofa wants to get back to his feet.
Sofa knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smith on the ground.

Smith is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Smith lands strikes from half guard.
Sofa avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Smith.
Smith is looking to take a break and control but Sofa is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Smith trying to mount his opponent but Sofa defends it.
Smith prevents Sofa from standing back up.
Sofa is not content to let Smith control the position.

Sofa wants to try and get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sofa is breathing heavily.

Sofa really wants to buck Smith off and get back to his feet.
Smith fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Sofa is rocked!
Sofa is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Smith lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Smith postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Sofa looks a forlorn figure.

Jeez, Joe Sofa's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
