Maka comes into the arena with Island Music blaring out of the sound system. Hart has chosen Alborosie - Kingdom Of Zion as his entrance music. Bret Hart has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Haka Maka's chin.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hart misses with a combination

and Maka moves into the clinch.
Maka can't break the clinch.

Maka's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hart throws a jab but it's blocked by Maka.
A solid leg kick lands there for Maka.
Maka will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hart waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Maka.

and Maka decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hart's guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Maka trying to control the position from guard on top but Hart is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Hart pushes Maka off and scrambles back to his feet.
Maka swings away with a leg kick that misses.

Hart tries to bum rush Maka with a series of wild strikes but Maka uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Maka counters with a one-two to the body.
Hart falls off balance throwing a combination
and Maka counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Hart throws a right and a left that Maka avoids nicely.
Hart misses with a looping right.
Hart displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Maka.

and Maka counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
A slow jab from Hart misses its intended target.
Bret Hart is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hart misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hart waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Maka.
No joy there for Hart, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Maka moves out of range as Hart strikes.
Maka rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hart moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Maka tries for a takedown but Hart sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Haka Maka. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Maka tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hart swivels and escapes.
A punch combination from Hart misses.
Hart fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Maka shoots and misses
and Hart counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Hart swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

so Maka counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Maka prevents Hart from getting back to his feet.
Hart looks winded!

Maka drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Maka jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hart uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Hart misses with a hook
and Maka counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Hart thinking.
Hart tries to bum rush Maka with a series of wild strikes but Maka uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Maka.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Maka gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Hart counters with a left to the body.
Hart is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Maka tries to move into range but Hart moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Hart throws a series of punches but Maka moves out of range.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Maka.
Hart jabs Maka right on the nose. Maka blinks but takes it well.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Nice shot lands for Hart.


Maka is rocked!
Hart throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Oh Maka is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Maka looks up at the clock. Bad move! Hart lands a right hand from hell, dropping Maka. Hart pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bret Hart!
During a confident post fight interview, Bret Hart thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
