Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nicolas Arenas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marty Mendes!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arenas tries a head kick but it misses.
Arenas really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Arenas throws a head kick but Mendes moves out of range.
Mendes throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Arenas's waist but Arenas gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mendes off to one side.
Arenas cracks the inside of Mendes's front leg.
Arenas throws a head kick that misses.
Mendes fails with the takedown.
Arenas stuffs the takedown attempt from Mendes. Mendes gets slowly back to his feet.
Nicolas Arenas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marty Mendes.
A head kick from Arenas lands but Mendes takes it in his stride.
Mendes fails with a takedown attempt.
Arenas tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Mendes shoots for a takedown but Arenas saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Mendes shoots in but Arenas avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Arenas lands a nice leg kick that just misses Mendes's sensitive parts.

Arenas pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Arenas looks to land a body kick but Mendes moved away.
Arenas misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Mendes fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Mendes takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Mendes shoots in for a double leg but Arenas sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Mendes showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Arenas.
Mendes closes the distance and clinches up with Arenas, looking for a takedown. Mendes pushes Arenas against the cage but Arenas circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Arenas scores with a spinning back kick!

Mendes blocks a head kick by Arenas.
Mendes avoids the head kick by Arenas.
Arenas tries a head kick but it misses.
Mendes looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Arenas misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Arenas misses with a low kick.
Nicolas Arenas is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Mendes misses with a takedown attempt - Arenas sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mendes drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Mendes works to advance to full mount. Arenas defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Mendes mounts Arenas! Really nice guard pass there!

Arenas tries to buck Mendes off but he can't manage it.
Mendes sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Arenas has given up his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Nicolas Arenas will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Mendes drives through with a takedown into guard.
Mendes works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Mendes maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Arenas could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Mendes has cracked it and Arenas is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Mendes!
