T-Pain as his entrance music. Paul Williams will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Williams wants it to stay on the feet.
Simons III looks for a takedown but Williams sprawls well.
Williams throws a series of punches but Simons III avoids them all with ease.
Williams lands with an overhand left.
Paul Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Williams buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Williams takes a swing at Simons III's ribcage but misses.
Simons III blocks a head kick by Williams.
Williams fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Simons III chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Williams can pounce on him.

Williams misses with an uppercut. Simons III saw that one coming.
Simons III shoots for a takedown but Williams saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Simons III. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Simons III changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Williams tries to avoid it but Simons III manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Williams to the ground. Williams escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Williams connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Simons III's hands.
Simons III moves away from the strike by Williams.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Simons III stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Williams.
Williams is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Williams throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Simons III uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Williams.

Williams attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Simons III looks for a takedown but Williams sprawls well.

Simons III looking to sit in guard and control but Williams gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Williams really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Simons III. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Williams won't allow Simons III to sweep him here.

Simons III not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Simons III has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Williams can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Williams wants to get up but he can't break Simons III's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Simons III isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Williams stacks Simons III on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Williams!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Simons III is trying to control Williams's posture but Williams avoids it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Simons III is trying to get back to half guard.

Simons III moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Williams has worked his arm free - good work by Williams!

Simons III has hold of Williams's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Williams tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Simons III cranks the arm and Williams screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Williams, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

A relieved looking John Simons III thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
