Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hando Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Om Oms (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hando Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Om Oms!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Winston Howard and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oms looks to land a left hand but Smith moved out of range nicely.
Oms looks to land a right hand but Smith moved out of range.

Smith feints and as Oms raises his hands in defense, Smith changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Oms working a defensive guard here.
Smith showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Smith trying to control the position from guard on top but Oms is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Smith wants to pass the guard but Oms is keeping the position.
Smith trying to stand up but can't free himself from Oms's guard.
Smith with a flurry of punches that miss.
Oms preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Oms is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Smith working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Oms is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Smith is controlling him.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Smith takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.


It looks like Hando Smith has been cut.

Smith feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith trying to stand up but can't free himself from Oms's guard.

Smith trying to control but Oms is working from the bottom.

Oms had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Smith defends it easily.
Smith postures up and lands a big shot to Oms's brow.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Smith sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Oms's guard.

Smith is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Oms doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Smith.
Oms is refusing to be controlled, as Smith sits in half guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Smith wants to stand up but Oms is controlling the position.
Oms is trying to control but can't.
Smith prevents Oms from standing back up.
Still in half guard, Smith seems content to control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Oms fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Smith on the side of the head.
Smith slips a jab from Oms.
No joy there for Smith, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Smith fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Smith closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Oms's guard.
Smith is breathing heavily.
Smith trying to control the position from guard on top but Oms is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Oms working a defensive guard but Smith manages to pass into side control anyway.
Oms is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Oms is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Smith has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Smith wants to stand but Oms is controlling his arm.
Oms tries to escape but Smith is in control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith just content to control the position.
Smith throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Smith misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Oms looks to move to half guard but instead Smith has passed into mount! Damn!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Oms is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hando Smith dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Hando Smith's cut.
That's time! Smith's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Oms throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Smith is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Oms is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Smith tries to stand but Oms is controlling from the bottom.
Smith postures up.

Smith wants to get up but he can't break Oms's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Oms checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Smith fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Oms manages to avoid it.
Smith slips a straight right by Oms.
Oms blocks the body kick.
Smith takes one to the chin there.
Smith swats away the attempt to clinch by Oms.
Oms is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Oms misses with a hook. Smith ducked under it nicely.

Smith darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Smith is figuring out what he wants to do next.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Smith thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Oms's head.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Smith shoots in looking for a takedown. Oms tries to sprawl out of it but Smith keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Oms manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Om Oms seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smith fails with a takedown attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A lazy left from Oms finds it's target.
Oms cracks Smith with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Smith wants to clinch.
Oms connects with the punch.


Hando Smith's cut is getting worse.
Oms lands with an uppercut that bounces Smith off the cage and back into range.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Oms lands with a right hand.
Smith fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hando Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Oms's jab looks to have found its range, popping Smith under the eye.


Hando Smith's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Hando Smith is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A decent looking cross lands there for Oms.
Smith could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Oms jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Oms sends Smith crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Oms is motioning to the referee to let Smith up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!


Smith is rocked!


Jeez, Hando Smith's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Smith leaves his chin hanging out and Oms seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Smith crumbles to the floor in a heap! The referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Om Oms!
After the fight, Om Oms was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
