Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Benson Hedges (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Taic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hedges comes to the cage accompanied by Jason 'Mayhem' Miller Dream 9 Entrance. Taic has chosen Here Comes the Boom-Intimidation as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Benson Hedges!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Taic!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taic with a poor takedown
and Taic takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Taic tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hedges sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Taic somewhat.
Hedges slaps away a takedown attempt from Taic, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Benson Hedges has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Taic.

Taic shoots in and drives through. Hedges sprawls well.

Taic really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hedges. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hedges is trying to drag Taic to the mat but Taic just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Hedges is pressed up against the cage. Taic has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Hedges down to the mat. Hedges avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Taic tries for a takedown but Hedges sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Taic dives in and grabs Hedges's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hedges pushes down on Taic's head and hops out.

Taic looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hedges is fending him off so far but Taic persists. Nope, Hedges circles away and we're back to standing.
Jason Taic seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hedges drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hedges creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Taic had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hedges defends it easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Taic has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hedges can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Hedges drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hedges jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

That was a close second round but I would say that Benson Hedges will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Taic throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Hedges escapes and throws Taic's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Taic tries to control but Hedges manages to take his back.
Hedges keeps control of the position as Taic tries to break free.

Hedges is working for a rear naked choke. Taic is not defending it well and Hedges has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Taic refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Taic's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Benson Hedges!
A less than humble Benson Hedges misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
