PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Urijah Faber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hector Barbosa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Faber comes to the cage accompanied by Motörhead - King of Kings. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Urijah Faber!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Hector Barbosa!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Bruno Hogan and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Faber shoots in looking for a takedown. Barbosa tries to sprawl out of it but Faber keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Barbosa manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Barbosa closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Faber is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Barbosa pulls his head out easily.

Faber wants to control but Barbosa is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Barbosa looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Faber with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Faber shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Barbosa as he jumps to the side.

Barbosa scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Faber is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Barbosa can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
