The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beale tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Penn swivels and escapes.
Penn throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Beale gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Penn sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Beale's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Penn tries to pass to full mount but Beale defends it.
Beale is looking to improve his position.

Penn is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Beale is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Penn's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Penn's back!
Beale gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.

Penn tries to free his leg and advance position but Beale is retaining full guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Beale is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Penn is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Penn trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Beale wants to stand but Penn is controlling the position.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Penn cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
