PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Richard Nixon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Jaffer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jaffer comes into a darkened arena with his song building. DubRaider- Starry Eyes kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Jaffer!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Ian Loll and Yves DeLean.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nixon wants to clinch up but Jaffer keeps it at a distance.
Richard Nixon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nixon moves in looking to clinch but Jaffer pushes him off.
Nixon tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Jaffer counters by clinching up.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Jaffer.
Nixon is looking to take this one to the mat.
Jaffer is leaning against Nixon and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
A nice right hand lands inside from Jaffer.
Nixon is looking to take this one to the mat.
Jaffer is struggling to control the position.

Jaffer is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Nixon can't fight it off and eventually Jaffer manages to take the fight to the floor. Nixon looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Nixon working for a triangle but Jaffer defends it easily.

Nixon throws his legs up looking for a submission but Jaffer uses it to pass to side control.

Jaffer controls the position.

Nixon throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.

Jaffer stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Jaffer looks to land a combination. Nixon sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Jaffer fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Nixon sprawls well initially but Jaffer persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Jaffer keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jaffer takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Jaffer is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nixon wants to get back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jaffer looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Jaffer passes the guard and advances to mount!
Nixon really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Nixon throws some wild strikes from the bottom.
A nice elbow there by Jaffer.
Jaffer controlling the position easily from mount.

Jaffer is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Nixon can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
BOOM! Jaffer connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Nixon flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Nixon throwing hammer fists to the chest of Jaffer. What's that going to do exactly?
Nixon is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Jaffer looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Jaffer looking to finish Nixon with some ground and pound. This is bad for Nixon!

Jaffer is landing with some decent strikes but Nixon is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Nixon is desperately trying to improve his position but Jaffer has a good base and remains in mount.
Nixon is in a horrible position here. Jaffer smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Jaffer lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Nixon is rocked!
Jaffer takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Oh Nixon is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Jaffer is in the full mount, landing strikes.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jaffer sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Nixon's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Jaffer is landing with some decent strikes but Nixon is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Nixon taking shots to the head.
Nixon is wriggling around trying to escape.
Jaffer has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Jaffer takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Jaffer scores with a couple of good head shots there.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Nixon is looking to get to half guard.
BOOM! Jaffer connects with a massive shot to the dome!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Jaffer dominated that round.
That's time! Nixon's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Jaffer clinches up with Nixon and pushes him back against the cage.
Jaffer makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Nixon wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Jaffer has him pressed against the cage.
Jaffer lands with a left to the head.
Jaffer pushes Nixon against the cage. Jaffer is working some dirty boxing. Jaffer pushes off with a quick right hook! Nixon goes down! Nixon tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Jaffer moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Jaffer!
James Jaffer was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
