The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gardener Jr ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mole moves away.
Mole is looking to clinch but Gardener Jr is avoiding it.
Gardener Jr throws a chopping leg kick but Mole manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Gardener Jr tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mole swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Gardener Jr throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mole uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gardener Jr.

Mole is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Gardener Jr has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Gardener Jr is nestled in close to Mole, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gardener Jr connects with a nice short shot to Mole's temple.

Mole creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Mole tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Gardener Jr just stands there and leans against the cage.
Gardener Jr tries for a takedown. No joy.

Gardener Jr is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Mole can't fight it off and eventually Gardener Jr manages to take the fight to the floor. Mole looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Rulon Gardener Jr overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Gardener Jr loads up on a big left hand. Mole felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Gardener Jr looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Mole can't hide his disappointment, as Gardener Jr celebrates the victory.

Rulon Gardener Jr spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
