The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boets shoots in for a takedown but Gardner shows good takedown defense.
Boets takes one on the button.
Nice body kick from Gardner.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Gardner takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
A looping hook to the body misses from Gardner. Boets does a little dance to reset his feet.
Boets takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Boets.
Gardner lands a nice looking body kick.
Gardner throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Boets.

Gardner fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Boets looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Gardner slaps away a takedown attempt from Boets, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Boets is trying desperately to land a takedown but Gardner is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Boets.
Gardner scores with a nice body kick.
Gardner lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Boets looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gardner is fending him off so far but Boets persists. Nope, Gardner circles away and we're back to standing.

Gardner fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Boets has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Gardner is looking to wear down Boets with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Nice uppercut lands for Gardner. That snapped Boets's head back.
Boets takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Boets fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Boets's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Gardner cracks Boets with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gardner drops Boets with a straight right hand, right on the button! Gardner follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!
