PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dave Gahan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miquel Prado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Prado is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Top Gun - Highway to the Dangerzone . Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 14 - 1, fighting out of London, Dave Gahan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Miquel Prado!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Donald Grub and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Prado.
Gahan misses with a low kick.
Prado slips a jab and a cross from Gahan.

Gahan shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Prado napping and manages to drive through into side control!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Gahan working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Prado is not content to let Gahan control the position.
Prado tries to buck Gahan off but Gahan is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Prado is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Prado sneaks back into half guard.

Gahan is nestled in close to Prado, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Prado taking some punishment here, with Gahan in his half guard.
Gahan perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Prado won't allow Gahan to pass to mount.

Gahan content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Gahan uses his free foot to push down on Prado's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Prado.
Gahan looking to control but Prado is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gahan lands a nice shot to the head.
Gahan takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Prado regains half guard.
Gahan passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Prado!

Prado is squirming around, avoiding Gahan's attempts to control the action.
Gahan lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gahan wants to finish this one by submission but Prado is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Gahan.
Prado tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Gahan can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Prado is looking to escape.

Gahan working for a guillotine from mount but Prado is in no mood to give up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gahan dives in and grabs Prado's left leg, looking for a takedown. Prado pushes down on Gahan's head and hops out.
Gahan throws a right and a left that Prado avoids nicely.
Gahan throws a right hand that Prado ducks under and follows up with a left that Prado also avoids with ease.
Gahan lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Prado circles away quickly and effectively.
Prado dives in and grabs Gahan's left leg, looking for a takedown. Gahan pushes down on Prado's head and hops out.

Gahan has taken the fight to the clinch.
Gahan tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Prado pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Prado drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Gahan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Prado misses with an uppercut. Gahan saw that one coming.

Gahan moves into the clinch.

Gahan presses Prado against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Prado is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Prado fails to pull guard.
Dave Gahan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Miquel Prado.

Gahan breaks the clinch.

Gahan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Prado, pushing him back against the cage.

Gahan closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Gahan looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Gahan looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Prado is not content to let Gahan control the position.

Gahan is looking for a kimura but Prado is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gahan to get the leverage.
Gahan wants to pass to mount but Prado is defending the position.
Gahan prevents Prado from standing back up.

Prado blocking the ground and pound attempt from Gahan.
Prado tries to roll over but Gahan keeps him under control.
Gahan throwing shots but Prado is blocking nicely.
Prado is looking to improve his position.
Gahan slows the pace down in half guard.
Prado scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Gahan manages to mount him!

It looks like Miquel Prado has been cut.

Prado sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Gahan lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Prado is staying active underneath Gahan, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Gahan closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Prado to the mat! Prado manages to get full guard.

Gahan pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Gahan postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Prado looks a forlorn figure.
Prado is in a horrible position here. Gahan smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

That has opened up Miquel Prado's cut even more.

Dave Gahan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Prado tries to lock up and control but Gahan gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Miquel Prado has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Gahan is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Prado can do to turn this around?

Miquel Prado's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gahan wants to control the pace but Prado is squirming around nicely.
Gahan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Dave Gahan is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Gahan is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Prado is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gahan seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Prado for as long as he can get away with.
