PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Legato Effrairo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Eduardo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Effrairo drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Effrairo misses with the ground and pound.
Effrairo controlling from side mount.
Eduardo tries to buck Effrairo off but Effrairo is having none of it.
Eduardo regains half guard.
Effrairo looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Eduardo is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Effrairo pulls his head out easily.
Effrairo not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Eduardo trying to hold on to Effrairo's head to control him but Effrairo postures up.
Effrairo thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Eduardo tries to get to full guard but Effrairo has control of the leg.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Effrairo instigates a clinch.
Effrairo keeps control of Eduardo as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Effrairo's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Effrairo lands with a light punch inside.
Effrairo tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Eduardo tries to pull guard but Effrairo won't allow it.

Effrairo tightens his grip and picks Eduardo up, before dumping him to the ground. Eduardo manages to land in guard.
Eduardo being controlled here, momentarily.
Eduardo is looking to sweep but instead, Effrairo has passed into half guard.
Effrairo wants to stand up but Eduardo is controlling the position.
Effrairo is pressing down on Eduardo's thigh, looking to free his foot. Eduardo is holding on for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Eduardo gets full guard.
Effrairo controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Eduardo is looking for a triangle but Effrairo pushes his legs off easily.
Eduardo looks gassed!

Effrairo loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Eduardo had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Effrairo is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Eduardo Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Effrairo's back instead.

Effrairo tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Eduardo wants to control the pace but Effrairo is squirming around nicely.

Eduardo is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Effrairo has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Effrairo is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Eduardo has taken his back.
Will Eduardo go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Effrairo is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Eduardo gets his way!
Effrairo rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Legato Effrairo dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Effrairo misses with a wild body shot.
Eduardo shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Effrairo counters by clinching up.
A short right from Effrairo on the inside.
Effrairo throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Eduardos head.
Effrairo prevents Eduardo from breaking the clinch.
Eduardo fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Effrairo lands with a short shot to the head.
Effrairo pushes Eduardo back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Eduardo tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Effrairo just stands there and leans against the cage.
Legato Effrairo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carlos Eduardo.

Effrairo gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Eduardo wants to sweep but no luck.
Effrairo controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Effrairo is tying to control. Eduardo wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Eduardo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Effrairo wants to pass the guard but Eduardo is defending well.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Eduardo tries to clinch but Effrairo moves out of range.
Legato Effrairo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Effrairo counters with a single leg into guard. Eduardo didn't expect that.
Effrairo is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
