PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Project Pat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy Randall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pat kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Project Pat - What Cha Starin' At. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Project Pat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Randy Randall!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Paul Tew and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pat lands with a thumping leg kick.
Pat uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Randall.
Randall moves away from the strike by Pat.
Randall checks a low kick from Pat.
Pat looks to throw the jab but Randall is out of range.
Randall waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Pat.
Pat digs a good body shot into Randall's ribs.
Randall fails with the takedown.
Pat punishes Randall's body with a nice straight punch.
Pat throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Pat moves out of range of the strikes.
Randall's corner calls for a 1-2. Randall obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Pat tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Pat throws the kick towards the body but Randall avoids it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Pat is looking to clinch but Randall is avoiding it.
Pat pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Pat gets caught napping as Randall dives in and scores a takedown. Pat manages to retain guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Randall stopping the sweep attempt from Pat.
Randall passes Pat's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Pat wants to improve his position but Randall is controlling well.

Randall is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Pat defends it well.

Pat is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Randall is trying to work for a kimura but Pat is defending well.

Pat is defending against the submission attempts here by Randall.
Randall is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pat really wants to buck Randall off and get back to his feet.
Pat slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Randall is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Randall is looking for a kimura but Pat is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Randall to get the leverage.

Randall is looking to take a break and control but Pat is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Pat wants to control but Randall is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Randall trying to pass the guard but Pat defending well.
Pat preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Project Pat.
Pat walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Randall checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nice defenses there by Pat.
Project Pat seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Randall scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Pat wants to clinch up but Randall keeps it at a distance.
Pat tried to score with a low kick but Randall checks it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Randy Randall will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Randall has a takedown stuffed.
Pat throws a looping overhand right but Randall ducks down to avoid it.
Randall tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
The fighters circle momentarily. Randall darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Randall throws a head kick but Pat moves out of range.
Pat misses with a low kick.
Pat fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Randall has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Pat misses with a body kick.
Randall on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Pat ducks under a wild hook from Randall.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pat bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Randall throws a body punch but Pat moves out of range.
Pat scores with a leg kick.
Randall on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Pat misses with a low kick.
Randall thows a body shot but no joy.
A low kick from Pat is predictable there

and Randall counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Randall looking to pass the guard.
Pat wants to sweep here but Randall controlling him for the moment.
Randall pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Pat is keeping the position for now.
Pat is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Randall tries to free his leg and advance position but Pat is retaining full guard.
Pat is looking to stand back up but Randall counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Pat.
Randy Randall has got the better of the ground game so far.
Pat wants to improve his position but Randall is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Randall is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Pat to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Randall trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Pat tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Pat keeping moving, preventing Randall from controlling successfully.
Pat can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Randall controls the pace.
Randall trying to control the position from guard on top but Pat is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Randall drops back, looking for a kneebar! Pat looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Pat looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Pat!

Pat decides to stand back up. Pat steps back and let's Randall get back to his feet.
Pat tried to score with a low kick but Randall checks it.
Pat finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Randall tries for a takedown but Pat sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

A kick lands to the mid section there for Pat.
Pat throws a leg kick but Randall sees it coming and moves out of range.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Pat, right into the meat.

A left lands for Pat.
Randall swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Pat fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Randall is out of range.

Ouch! a nice leg kick from Pat, right into the meat.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Randall.
Project Pat has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Randy Randall.
Randall scores with a body shot.
Pat throws an overhand right that lands on Randall's shoulder, as Randall tries to avoid the shot.
Pat connects with a solid leg kick.
A low kick from Pat is predictable there

and Randall counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Pat!

Randall is trying to get an arm triangle but Pat is defending well.
You can see the frustration on Pat's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Pat tries to buck Randall off but Randall is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Project Pat dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Pat dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Randall. That did some damage!
Pat pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Randall thows a body shot but no joy.
Pat throws a head kick that misses.
Pat misses with a kick to the body.
Nice body kick there by Pat.

Pat tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Pat lands a front kick.

Randall tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Pat was well out of range. Poor timing from Randall.

Randall swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Randall misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Pat.
A looping hook to the body misses from Pat. Randall does a little dance to reset his feet.
An inside leg kick lands from Pat.
Pat throws a leg kick but Randall moved away.
Pat throws out a loose jab but Randall uses good head movement to avoid it.
Project Pat is winning the standup battle so far.

and Randall counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Randall is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Pat is looking to escape.

Randall is trying to control the action in half guard but Pat is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Pat manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Randall manages to get himself to full guard.

Randall looking for subs off his back but Pat has passed one foot through into half guard.
Randall wants to improve his position but Pat is controlling well.
Randall is trying to maintain the position but Pat is very close to passing his half guard.

Randall is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Pat throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Pat pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Randall is keeping the position for now.

We're going to have a standup here because Project Pat wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Pat feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Randall's calf.

And that's the end of the fight!
Project Pat showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Pat has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
