Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between William Dodson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andrew Ellis!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dodson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ellis circles away.
Dodson tries to clinch up but Ellis circles away and keeps his distance.
Ellis misses with a hook to the body
and Dodson counters with a right hand to the body.
Ellis throws a sloppy body shot
letting Dodson counter with a right hand.

Ellis drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Dodson takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Ellis is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Dodson has escaped the position, nice work there.
Ellis should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ellis working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Ellis in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Ellis is looking to take a break and control but Dodson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Dodson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Ellis tries to move to full mount but Dodson actually manages to regain half guard.
Ellis keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Dodson wants to control but Ellis is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Ellis wants to free his trapped foot but Dodson is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Well, if Ellis is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Andrew Ellis hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Ellis shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Dodson trying to hold on to Ellis's head to control him but Ellis postures up.

Dodson wants to control but Ellis is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Ellis looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Dodson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of William Dodson.

Dodson has a closed guard, preventing Ellis from standing up.
Ellis is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Ellis must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ellis tries to free his leg and advance position but Dodson is retaining full guard.

Dodson shoots in but no luck this time.
Dodson throws a head kick but Ellis moves out of range.

Ellis closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Dodson did well to prevent Ellis getting side control.

Dodson is staying active underneath Ellis, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Ellis is just content to waste time from the top position. Dodson takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Andrew Ellis has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Dodson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Ellis tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Dodson is in Ellis's guard.

Ellis is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Ellis wants to sweep but no luck.

Ellis is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Ellis is trying to pull guard but Dodson turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Ellis trying to control the position but instead, Dodson has worked for underhooks and has pushed Ellis into the cage.
Ellis drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Dodson gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Ellis has Dodson pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Dodson manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
William Dodson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andrew Ellis.

Dodson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Ellis has eaten all the pies!

Dodson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ellis's waist but Ellis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dodson off to one side.

Ellis throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andrew Ellis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Ellis throws a left and a right that both miss

and Dodson moves into the clinch.
Ellis stops a takedown attempt from Dodson.
Ellis is trying to pull guard but Dodson has him pressed against the cage.

Dodson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Dodson scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Dodson tries for a takedown but Ellis circles away easily

and Ellis counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Ellis pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Dodson is keeping the position for now.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dodson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Dodson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ellis is one step ahead there.
Ellis tries to stand but Dodson is controlling from the bottom.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Ellis is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Ellis's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Andrew Ellis wasn't active enough on the ground.
Ellis misses with a head kick.
Dodson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ellis.
Ellis doesn't manage to clinch there - Dodson circles away.

Ellis is looking to clinch but Dodson is avoiding it.
A combination from Dodson does no damage.

Ellis drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Ellis is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Ellis wanted to stand there but Dodson had control of the position.

Ellis fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Dodson to the ground. Ellis is now in Dodson's guard.

Ellis stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Ellis shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Dodson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Ellis passes into half guard.
Ellis is controlling the pace.
Let's hope that Ellis has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ellis looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Ellis decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

I've got Ellis winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
