Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shane Patrick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Russell Ives (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Shane Patrick has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shane Patrick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Russell Ives!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patrick doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Ives counters with a nice double leg into side control. Patrick won't be happy with that.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Patrick tries to control but Ives manages to take his back.
Ives not allowing Patrick to control his hands.
Ives throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.

Patrick rolls, trying to escape but Ives keeps control of the position.

Patrick tries to escape but Ives has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Ives gets his hands free as Patrick looks to control.

Patrick is trying to shake Ives off. He's managed it and has hopped back to his feet! Ives won't be happy about giving up the dominant position.

Ives is pushing down on Patrick's leg trying to pass to half guard. Patrick is fighting to maintain full guard but Ives has managed to sneak the leg through.

Ives passes Patrick's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Patrick shoots in and drives through. Ives sprawls well.
Patrick shoots in looking for a takedown but Ives manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Patrick's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Patrick tries to pull guard but Ives forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shane Patrick. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Ives swings wildly with an uppercut but Patrick uses good head movement to avoid it.

Ives lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Patrick backwards.

Patrick is trying to pull guard but Ives has him pressed against the cage.
Ives lands a shot to the body.
Patrick tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Ives just stands there and leans against the cage.
Ives has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Patrick is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Ives lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ives is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ives is on top in guard.
Ives working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Patrick's head.
Ives stands and throws Patrick's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Russell Ives has got the better of the ground game so far.

The referee asks Ives politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Ives prefers to stall for the moment though.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Russell Ives showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

A big shot lands for Ives! That's hurt Patrick! Will he recover? Ives fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:30 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Russell Ives!
After winning the bout, Russell Ives thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
