PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Darius Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Las Vegas Baby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ellis comes to the cage accompanied by 2pac nothing to lose. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Darius Ellis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Las Vegas Baby!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vegas Baby darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Ellis keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Vegas Baby is looking to advance position but Ellis won't allow it.
Vegas Baby sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Ellis defending well though.

Vegas Baby is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Ellis doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Vegas Baby.
Vegas Baby throwing shots but Ellis is blocking nicely.

Vegas Baby goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Ellis turns into him and now he's in Vegas Baby's guard.

Vegas Baby working for a triangle but Ellis defends it easily.
Vegas Baby looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ellis is one step ahead there.
Ellis will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Ellis drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ellis jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Vegas Baby has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ellis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Ellis with a flurry of punches that miss.

Vegas Baby isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Ellis stacks Vegas Baby on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Ellis!
Ellis looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Vegas Baby is avoiding damage well.
Ellis is working Vegas Baby over with some ground and pound from side control.
Vegas Baby manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Ellis is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Vegas Baby is looking to improve his position.

Ellis moves nicely into side control.
Ellis in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Sloppy strikes there by Ellis.
Vegas Baby is looking for a sweep.
Vegas Baby manages to work his way to half guard, despite Ellis's best efforts.
Vegas Baby tries to get to full guard but Ellis has control of the leg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Las Vegas Baby dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Ellis fails with the takedown

Vegas Baby looks for the body kick but Ellis saw that one coming.

Vegas Baby feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Ellis is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Vegas Baby is controlling him.
Vegas Baby advances to half guard.
Ellis really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Vegas Baby throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Vegas Baby uses his free foot to push down on Ellis's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ellis.

Vegas Baby has control of Ellis's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Ellis regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Ellis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vegas Baby on the ground.
Vegas Baby connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Vegas Baby lands a big shot there that rocks Ellis but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Vegas Baby wants to control the pace but Ellis is squirming around nicely.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vegas Baby looking to ground and pound but Ellis is blocking nicely.

Ellis defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Vegas Baby.

Ellis is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Vegas Baby has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Ellis tries to lock up and control but Vegas Baby gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Vegas Baby with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Ellis reaches up to try and control the position but Vegas Baby seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Ellis rolls and tries to escape and now Vegas Baby has his back!
Ellis is really stuck here.

Vegas Baby has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Ellis is in real trouble here. Vegas Baby gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Ellis is tapping out! Vegas Baby wins by rear naked choke!
