Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Fire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Cain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jason Cain has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 16 - 1, fighting out of New York, Tommy Fire!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jason Cain!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Eddie Farnsworth and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fire tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cain sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Fire somewhat.
Cain misses with an attempted mid kick.
Nice sprawl there from Fire as Cain shoots in.
Fire fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Cain closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Fire quickly recovers to half guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Fire gets full guard.
Cain with a flurry of punches that miss.
Fire trying to control the position here.
Fire has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fire bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cain's guard.
Cain controls Fire momentarily but Fire frees himself.

Fire is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Fire rushes Cain and presses him up against the cage.

Fire breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Fire shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Fire showed some decent athleticism there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Fire not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Fire passes to side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cain can do anything to dispel that myth.

Fire stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Fire shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Cain manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Fire manages to get himself to full guard.

Fire has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Cain off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Fire looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cain is fending him off so far but Fire persists. Nope, Cain circles away and we're back to standing.

Fire has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Cain is trying to keep an underhook but Fire manages to get the takedown into half guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Fire scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Cain flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Cain wants to control but Fire is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Fire is taking a breather. Cain says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Fire looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Cain trying to hold on to Fire's head to control him but Fire postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tommy Fire dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Fire has closed the distance and engaged Cain in a clinch.
Cain jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Fire walks away with a smile on his face. Cain gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Cain shoots in and drives through. Fire sprawls well.
Cain tries to clinch but Fire moves out of range.
Fire misses with a jab, cross combination.
Fire shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cain but Cain pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Fire feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Fire's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Cain wants to sweep but no luck.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Fire shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Cain defends it nicely.

Tommy Fire has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Cain.
Cain is breathing heavily.
Fire misses with a takedown attempt - Cain sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Fire closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Fire lands in his opponent's guard.

Cain really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fire. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Fire scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Fire keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Cain's head.
Fire sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Fire's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Cain has momentary wrist control but Fire slips an elbow through the middle.
Fire working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Fire has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Cain is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Fire is in close to Cain's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Tommy Fire overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Fire is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Cain has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Fire can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Fire is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Cain is looking to stand up but Fire isn't so interested in that idea.
Cain takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Fire not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Cain is looking for a triangle but Fire pushes his legs off easily.
Fire is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Cain can do to turn this around?
Fire is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

We're going to have a standup here because Tommy Fire wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Fire is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Cain's half guard.
Fire uses his free foot to push down on Cain's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Cain.

Fire fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Fire tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Cain is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Fire locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Cain is forced to tap!

During a confident post fight interview, Tommy Fire thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
