Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joshua Estrada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenji Ling (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Kenji Ling enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joshua Estrada!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kenji Ling!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Josh West and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Estrada tries to close the distance and clinch but Ling swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Estrada shoots in but Ling avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Estrada is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Ling defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Estrada.
Ling shoots in looking for a takedown. Estrada tries to sprawl out of it but Ling keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Estrada manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Estrada tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Ling tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Estrada manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Estrada shoots in and drives through. Ling sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joshua Estrada. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Estrada drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Ling is trying to get back to half guard.

Estrada looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Ling is avoiding damage well.
Ling prevents Estrada from improving position.
Ling is not content to let Estrada control the position.
Estrada is really struggling to control Ling but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Estrada is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Ling is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Ling is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Estrada misses with the ground and pound.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Joshua Estrada just wasn't active enough.
Ling misses with a body kick.
Estrada fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ling avoids it really well and circles away.
Estrada tries to clinch there but Ling circles away.
Estrada is looking to clinch.
Joshua Estrada seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ling avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Estrada shoots in looking for a takedown but Ling manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Estrada's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Ling can't keep his opponent in guard - Estrada advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Estrada is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Ling has managed to free his arm - good work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joshua Estrada dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Estrada stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Estrada wants it to stay on the feet.
Estrada throws a head kick that misses.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ling is defended easily by Estrada.
Ling closes the distance and clinches up with Estrada, looking for a takedown. Ling pushes Estrada against the cage but Estrada circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Joshua Estrada has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kenji Ling.

Estrada shoots in and bounces Ling off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Estrada is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Ling avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Estrada.

Estrada wants to take a breather but Ling is having none of it.
Ling is trying to get back to full guard.
Estrada trying to control the action but Ling is working from the bottom.
Ling is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Estrada's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Estrada's back!
Estrada looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Estrada breaks Ling's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Ling looking to hit a scissor sweep but Estrada is one step ahead there.

Estrada throws a big right hand that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joshua Estrada dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Estrada gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Estrada has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ling can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Ling stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Estrada swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ling controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Estrada striking off his back but it's not causing Ling any problems.
Estrada controls Ling momentarily but Ling frees himself.

That's one minute gone in the round.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

We're going to have a standup here because Joshua Estrada wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Estrada leaves Ling with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Ling shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Estrada as he avoids it easily.
Estrada does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Joshua Estrada is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ling moves in looking to clinch but Estrada pushes him off.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Estrada shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ling defends it nicely.
Ling shoots in but no luck this time.
Joshua Estrada has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kenji Ling.
Estrada shoots in for a takedown but Ling shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Estrada throws the left hand but Ling avoids the punch easily.
Ling tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Estrada swivels and escapes.
Ling has a takedown stuffed.
Ling takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Estrada dives in and grabs Ling's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ling pushes down on Estrada's head and hops out.

Ling darts in and clinches Estrada up against the cage.

Estrada jumps guard and drags Ling to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Joshua Estrada overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Ling wants to control from the top but Estrada keeps moving.
Estrada is trying to keep Ling in close.
Ling trying to control but Estrada is working from the bottom.
Estrada is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Joshua Estrada.
Ling fails with a takedown attempt.
Estrada tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ling was well out of range. Poor timing from Estrada.
Ling keeps the fight on the outside.
Ling checks the leg kick nicely there.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Estrada is defended easily by Ling.
Estrada tries to clinch but Ling is having none of it.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Joshua Estrada.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Estrada, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
