The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Foster shoots in looking for a takedown. Baraba tries to sprawl out of it but Foster keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Baraba manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Foster doesn't manage to clinch there - Baraba circles away.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Foster holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Baraba tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Foster wants to clinch up but Baraba keeps it at a distance.

Foster seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Baraba does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Baraba pushes Foster off looking to stand but Foster dives back in and keeps control.
Baraba is in trouble now - Foster has advanced to mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Foster thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

Foster is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Baraba is surviving well by controlling Foster's body position as best he can.

Foster looking to ground and pound but Baraba is blocking nicely.
Poor strikes thrown by Foster there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Foster throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Baraba tries to lock up and control but Foster gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Foster lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Foster jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Baraba manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Baraba bucks up and tries to throw Foster off but instead Foster has got his back!

Foster is persistently looking for the submission but Baraba is defending it well.
Foster thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Baraba is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
