Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jimmy Howard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sam Filipo!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Hirohito Nitta and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Howard displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Howard steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Filipo.
Howard fails with an attempt to clinch.
Howard is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Filipo.
A chopping leg kick lands by Howard.
Howard swats away the attempt to clinch by Filipo.
Filipo throws a nice looking combination but Howard bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Filipo.
Filipo shoots in looking for a takedown but Howard manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Filipo's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Filipo fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Howard, pushing him back against the cage.
Filipo breaks from the clinch.
Howard feints a jab promting Filipo to slip. Howard then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Filipo slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Filipo shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Howard is trying to defend but Filipo finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Howard regains full guard. Nicely done.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Filipo wanted to stand there but Howard had control of the position.
Filipo looks winded!

Howard is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Howard looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Howard wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Filipo throws an elbow that misses. Howard uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Filipo's guard. Nice move by Howard!
Howard stands and steps away. Filipo gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Howard plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Howard shoots in and drives through. Filipo sprawls well.
Filipo lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Filipo.
Howard is rocked!
A kick lands to the mid section there for Filipo.
Oh Howard is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Filipo dances in with a quick combination. Howard is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Filipo snaps Howard's head back. Howard stumbles backwards against the cage. Filipo steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Howard's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Howard just didn't come prepared.
