PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Juninho Macarenco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Mean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Juninho Macarenco!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jim Mean!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Alan Glass and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mean shoots for a double leg takedown but Macarenco sprawls well. He's pushed Mean's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Horrible takedown by Mean or perhaps it was just good defense by Macarenco which made him look bad.

Mean closes the distance and pushes Macarenco back into the cage.
Mean tries to pull guard but Macarenco holds him up against the cage and eventually Mean drops back down to his feet.
Juninho Macarenco has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jim Mean.
Mean tries to pull guard but Macarenco holds him up against the cage and eventually Mean drops back down to his feet.
Macarenco tries to break free but Mean pushes him back against the cage.
Mean is looking for a takedown.
Mean tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Macarenco wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Macarenco tries to break the clinch but Mean is controlling the position.
Macarenco is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Mean pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Macarenco is looking to break free of the clinch but Mean has double underhooks.

Macarenco escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mean takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Macarenco cracks Mean with a right hand to the side of the head.
Mean shoots in looking for a takedown. Macarenco tries to sprawl out of it but Mean keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Macarenco manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Macarenco misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Mean dodges the punch combination from Macarenco.
Macarenco closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Mean shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Juninho Macarenco seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Macarenco throws a series of punches but Mean moves out of range.
Macarenco lands a two punch combo.
Macarenco throws a series of punches but Mean avoids them all with ease.

Mean closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Macarenco did well to prevent Mean getting side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mean works his way into full mount!
Mean trying to control but Macarenco is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mean misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Mean has hold of Macarenco's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Macarenco manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Macarenco wants to get back to his feet.
Mean trying to control but Macarenco is having none of it.
Macarenco squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Mean is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Macarenco can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
You get the feeling that Macarenco really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Mean is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Macarenco can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

It looks like Juninho Macarenco has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mean fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!


Juninho Macarenco's cut is getting worse.
Macarenco is squirming around, avoiding Mean's attempts to control the action.
Macarenco really wants to buck Mean off and get back to his feet.

Mean looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Mean has control of Macarenco's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Macarenco regains control of the situation pretty easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Oooooh, big shot lands for Mean! Macarenco is hurt baaadly! Mean is firing away with more strikes - Macarenco is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jim Mean!
An out of breath Jim Mean thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
