Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Hoodwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kel Varnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hoodwell comes to the cage accompanied by Yela Wolf Kickin. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Kel Varnson was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kel Varnson!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Colin Fray and Roger Salmon.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoodwell is trying hard to land a takedown here. Varnson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Hoodwell fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Varnson avoids it really well and circles away.
Hoodwell falls off balance throwing a combination
and Varnson counters with a nice body shot.
A nice inside leg kick there by Varnson. That's going to slow Hoodwell down.
Hoodwell throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Hoodwell throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Varnson's waist but Varnson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hoodwell off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Hoodwell. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hoodwell uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Varnson.
Hoodwell throws a shot from downtown. Varnson moves away and avoids it.

and Varnson counters with a nice uppercut.
Hoodwell is breathing heavily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hoodwell throws a hook to the side of Varnson's head but Varnson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Varnson lands a big head kick that sends Hoodwell tumbling to the mat! Varnson takes a step backwards and waves Hoodwell back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Hoodwell is rocked!

It looks like Jake Hoodwell has been cut.
Hoodwell takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Oh Hoodwell is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Varnson flashes Hoodwell a smile before throwing a beast of a right hand, straight down the pipe. Hoodwell's eyes follow the hand right onto his nose, taking in it's full glory... and then darkness. Hoodwell crumples to the floor! He's out cold! Varnson punches the air and yells at the top of his lungs - yeeeeeeeeeeah!!!! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Kel Varnson!
