PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zeca Fernando (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carter Antoine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Antoine misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Fernando.

Fernando could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Antoine takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Antoine throws a hook to the side of Fernando's head but Fernando sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

and Antoine decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Fernando's guard.
Antoine postures up in Fernando's guard and throws a big left but Fernando blocks it.

Antoine drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Fernando manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Antoine has Fernando in his guard.

Antoine is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Fernando defends well.

Antoine is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Antoine wants to stand and escape but Fernando is having none of it.

Antoine is refusing to be controlled, as Fernando sits in half guard.

Antoine pushes Fernando off looking to stand but Fernando dives back in and keeps control.

Fernando is looking for a kimura but Antoine is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Fernando to get the leverage.
Fernando has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Fernando fails to advance to Antoine's back.

Antoine wants to try and get back to his feet.

Fernando wants to finish this one by submission but Antoine is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Fernando.

Fernando can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Antoine is looking to escape.
Antoine tries to hold on but Fernando postures up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Antoine tries to kick Fernando off but Fernando keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Fernando wants to control but Antoine is keeping him busy.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Fernando is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
