PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Beef Mode (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy Mordic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Mode might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Take From Me (Royce Da 5'9 and Eminem). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mode tries for a takedown but Mordic sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Mode dives in and grabs Mordic's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mordic pushes down on Mode's head and hops out.
Mode displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mordic.

Mode misses with a takedown attempt - Mordic sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Beef Mode seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mode throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mordic's waist but Mordic gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mode off to one side.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mordic can do anything to dispel that myth.

Mode tries to lock up and control but Mordic gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Mordic content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Mode is looking for a sweep. Mordic is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Mode wants to get back to full guard but Mordic has mounted him!
Mode sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Mode is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mordic pulls his head out easily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mode shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mordic but Mordic pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Mordic looks to score with a jab to the body but Mode is just out of range.

Beef Mode overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Mode postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Mordic in real trouble here! The ref calls for Mordic to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
